Gina Green-Harris is the Director of Milwaukee Outreach and Program Services at the University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Medicine and Public Health, Wisconsin Alzheimer’s Institute, provides leadership and governance to guide and build the capacity of the WAI Milwaukee office. She leads the outreach and research program which is designed to provide resources and recruit minorities into research that is culturally specific to African- Americans. Since joining Institute the program has more than doubled the number of African Americans enrolled in the Wisconsin Registry for Alzheimer’s Prevention (WRAP). In addition, she was instrumental in collaboration between the University and Milwaukee Health Services, Inc (a federally Qualified Health Center) to establish a minority specific memory clinic in the heart of Milwaukee. This is the first of its kind and is being established as a national model for other FQHC’s to replicate. The Institute’s work is being followed by researchers across the state and nation to learn about their outreach and recruitment model.
Ms. Green-Harris was appointed to serve as a member of the Milwaukee County Family Care Governing Board. She serves on local, state and federal boards and committees including, the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America’s (AFA) National Alzheimer’s Planning Advisory Council, the Federal Office of Minority Health’s Health Equity Council (Region V). State Board memberships include, the Wisconsin Institute for Healthy Aging, and WI’s Hand in the Plan Alzheimer’ State Planning Committee. She serves as a board member with Interfaith for Older Adults, Center on Aging Communities at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, Milwaukee Health Services Incorporated. She was appointed to serve on Milwaukee County’s Family Care Governing Board, and is a member of the Milwaukee County Department on Aging Advisory Council and she co-chairs the underserved populations committee and the Clergy Upholder Health Committee.
In past years, Ms. Green-Harris has served as a grant reviewer for the Center for Disease Control, HRSA. In addition she was a consultant with the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America and assisted with the creation and development of their multi-cultural Alzheimer’s disease outreach and educational materials that are distributed nationally.
As a former Grants Manager with the Ohio Commission on Minority Health, she has multiple years of professional experience in minority health in several capacities including grants management, project and community development. She has worked in several disease areas including HIV/AIDS, cancer, diabetes, SLE Lupus, substance abuse and domestic violence and more. Her work in HIV (Ohio) has resulted in the development of the only HIV faith based curriculum for clergy and theological students in the AME seminaries.
She has a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from Central State University and a Master’s degree in Business Administration from Franklin University in Columbus, OH.
