As she works to send a genuine message of empowerment, perseverance and a “You-can-do-it-too” attitude to her peers, this Emmy Award-winning thrift-shopping movie-loving student triumphantly leads by example. With an impressive list of inspiring talents and wondrous accolades in the fields of television, journalism, editing and broadcasting, this college-aged front-runner races forward, with her eye on the world.

After her father started a local Milwaukee television show with a goal to help inner-city teens, it was second nature for Camille to follow in similar foot steps. With the guidance and experience held by her communications-driven family, the young journalist-to-be has been a part of the industry ever since. At the age of 15, Camille learned how to edit television packages by simply observing those in charge.
After graduation, Camille relocated to the underdog city of all cities, Chicago, to attend acclaimed media and arts school, Columbia College Chicago. Camille continued to carry her love for television into her major of choice. During the cold chill of Chicago air, Camille and a few close friends helped develop a new project, one to inspire girls to take care of themselves, mentally, physically and emotionally. With the memory of her deceased grandmother on her mind, Camille, Editor-in-Chief, modeled a “younger” version of her father’s successful women’s magazine, Girlfriends, in 2009. On the canvas-like screen of a few laptops, a heap of enthusiastic ideas and visionary minds, Girlfriends for Teens of Color came into fruition. Camille found it a personal duty to inform her peers and her fellow “girlfriends” of the necessity of possessing a sound mind, body and soul. With a mission is to “encourage, educate, inspire, nurture & equip,” Camille’s life message rings clear in this online mag. Providing an interactive website, endless online networking efforts and a thriving word-of-mouth approach, Girlfriends for Teens of Color has already made it’s presence known across all coasts.

A firm believer in dreaming big, allowing no barrier to stop one’s victorious journey, and accepting the mysterious excitement of discovering what her future holds, Camille Johnson keeps her star held high, beyond ready to shine.
A quick learner, she picked up the skill without much help or “hand-holding” from others. She officially joined her father’s company, Strive Media, fully acting as a journalist, editor and often, host. Strongly rooted in community service and the priceless act of helping others, Camille also lent her creative vision to a major Milwaukee Public Service Announcement campaign as well as a number of billboards, dealing with the paramount issue of teen pregnancy at the time.
