Who says an apple a day is the only way to keep the doctor away. Humor helps too! With all that’s currently happening in the world, let’s face it we need something to laugh about especially when we’re living in times when there’s so much to bring our spirits down. What I do to get past my sadness is to laugh…a lot!
I hit a little bit of laughing gas daily, only kidding ladies, but I do make an effort everyday to either
laugh or to make someone laugh. I’m a natural bonafide comedian. If I see someone who looks
like their having a bad day or needs a good laugh, make it a point to try and make them smile.
You’d be surprised how watching someone else laugh makes you feel just as good as if you’re laughing yourself. Humor also gives off a natural euphoria that has healing and medicinal qualities that soothes us.
Because laughter provides endorphins, we don’t have to rely on drugs or anything else to feel this
good; a glass of your favorite bubbly and a cup of giggles goes a long way on a bad day. I must admit though, I do have my happy vices – Redd Foxx videos! I love to pop in my DVD collections from “Sanford & Son” and “The Jefferson’s.” I need a little Redd Foxx, Sherman Hensley and Marla Gibbs.
I love that kind of raw tell-it-like-it-is comedy Redd Foxx did when I need a lift. I literally have viewing marathons watching them. I’m telling you girls, that’s some funny stuff! I also like to go to The Comedy Store or other local comedy places by myself or with a fine date on hand to see some
of my favorite comics! There’s nothing like seeing a great comedy bit to keep you in stitches.
Not to be too serious, but I think it’s important for all of us to remember that humor opens us up to one of the greatest gifts in life – joy. So, just when you think you’ve had enough, think again and remember the next time you have a gut wrenching laugh, that you’re actually doing something great for your health.
