If cancer had a motto it would be “Any
where, any time, ANY ONE”. It does not need an invitation; as a matter
of fact it is the biggest party crasher of all time, especially when
your unexpected guest has no warning signs or have warning signs that
are similar to less severe illnesses. Take OVARIAN CANCER for example.
!!!!!!! EARLY DETECTION EARLY DETECTION EARLY DETECTION!!!!!!!
This is a matter and life and death. There is probably a 100% chance
you won’t say “OUCH…MY OVARIES ARE KILLING ME”! Although cancerous
ovaries could very well be and you would have no way of knowing until
the situation becomes critical. If ovarian cancer is detected before
it spreads to your other reproductive organs the survival rate
increases. Remember, the longer it takes to diagnose, the shorter the
survival rate is. There are symptoms that all women should be aware of
that should be an alarm to see a doctor right away.
• Pelvic and abdominal pain
• Urinary frequency and urgency
• Increased abdominal size and bloating
• Difficulty eating and feeling full quickly
• Constipation or diarrhea
• Nausea
• Indigestion or gas
• Abnormal vaginal bleeding
• Unusual fatigue
• Unexplained weight loss or gain
• Shortness of breath
• Low back pain
While it may be that these symptoms are associated with many other
illnesses, they make it more the reason to go to the doctor for
evaluation anyway because NONE of them are normal and ALL indicate
something wrong in the body. It is easy for these symptoms to be
mistaken for something else. 90% of women experiences one or more of
these symptoms in the early stages but only 19% of women are diagnosed
in the early stage. Ladies, know what the factors are that put you at
a higher risk for Ovarian Cancer.
• Increasing age
• Personal or family history of ovarian, breast or colon cancer
• Never having been pregnant or born a child
• Family or personal history of cancer
INTERESTING FACT ALERT
Ninety percent of women diagnosed do not have a family history that might put
them at a higher risk for ovarian cancer.
Even though there is no reliable way to test for Ovarian cancer like it
is for cervical cancer for example, the 5 year survival rate is 45% for
all four stages of cancer which is why its important to see a doctor if
any suspicions arise. Find more information about Ovarian cancer visit
